The employees at WIKA USA gave generously and enthusiastically to make the Christmas of 2022 brighter for 80 children in their communities’ foster care system.

WIKA USA regularly takes part in canned food drives and gave generously in past Toys for Tots campaigns. Yet Bettina Ginn wanted to do more. So when the holidays rolled around last year, the Director of HR Business Partner decided to participate in the annual Angel Tree project sponsored by Gwinnett County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), buying gifts for abused or neglected children who are in the foster care system.

The turnout exceeded Bettina’s imagination.

The headquarters in Lawrenceville sponsored 57 children, while WIKA USA’s Houston location sponsored 23. Leading the effort in Houston were Kayla Sorich and Lynne Truss. Employees were so enthusiastic about the project that all the children’s names were picked within 24 hours.

Almost all departments had someone who participated,” Bettina said. “Many people participated with monetary donations.” There was even a waiting list for people who didn’t get a child to buy toys for.

Many employees at WIKA’s Houston location participated in their community’s CASA Angel Tree gift drive.

In the lead-up to Christmas, both office locations were merry. Brightly wrapped packages and jolly gift bags surrounded the lobbies’ CASA Angel Tree, flanked by brand new bicycles and tricycles. Then all those presents – each sporting the name of a child with a court-appointed advocate – were loaded onto trucks and delivered to local CASA offices.

Thanks to all those who participated and wanted to participate. Eighty children’s holidays were so much happier, all due to your kindness and generosity!
